Hilo: the Boy Who Crashed to Earth by Judd Winick

nsmlibrary

Rating: 4 stars

It is about a boy named Hilo that crashed to Earth without his memories. He has to get his memories back.

The main characters are Hilo, who is very odd and described as a big ball of Energy; Daniel Jackson "D.J." Lim, who thinks of himself as unremarkable and average, and Regina "Gina" Cooper, who is smart and wants to be different from her mother and sisters.

There are not many books of my knowledge where the main character begins the series broken and retains no memory prior.

I quite enjoyed this book; it is a fun read, and I would recommend it entirely.

I did like the cover, as it showed Hilo's fists raised, glowing, and D.J. and Gina looking at him in amazement. The cover doesn't convey what the story is about, only talking about his friend's amazement.

I would give the book 5 stars, but the jokes in the book are a bit annoying on how childish it is. But they can easily be ignored.*
